Design
This home has a great north orientation with high glazing giving good solar gain onto the polished concrete floor. The concrete floor provides substantial thermal mass and is also heated and insulated underneath and around the perimeter.
The exterior walls are 140mm douglas fir and these and the ceiling cavity have been filled with the highest R value natural wool insulation possible.
Thermal break aluminium joinery adds extra comfort and heat retention and the double-glazing is argon-gas filled.
Photovoltaic panels on the roof and other items complete the package of this delightful warm low-energy home.
